Join combined 5th Sunday worship at 11:00 am (one service only!) for a message from our Rev. Gary Bernard Williams, Senior Pastor of Saint Mark United Methodist Church of Los Angeles.

Pastor Gary was born and raised in Los Angeles, California. He is the pastor of Saint Mark UMC in the heart of South Los Angeles. He brings a passion for congregational revitalization, spiritual transformation, community engagement and children and youth mentorship.

Pastor Gary completed his undergraduate studies first at Los Angeles City College, AA Degree in Liberal Arts, California State University Los Angeles, BA Degree in Pan-African Studies, Los Angeles Southwest Community College, completing the Chemical Dependency Certificate Program, and Claremont School of Theology, with a Master of Divinity Degree.

Pastor Gary is an Elder in the California-Pacific Annual Conference. He formerly served on the General Board of Church and Society Advisory Team: Ministry with the Poor, Former Chair of the Cal-Pac Taskforce, Justice Not Jails, Former Chair of Strengthening the Black Church Conference Committee. Founder of the Full Circle Recovery Ministry, a Christian based 12 Step group and Faith in Action, a group started to end Gun and Gang violence in South LA. Currently he is a Board Member of Clergy and Laity United for Economic Justice (CLUE). He is actively working to combat Food Inequity in South LA through urban gardening/farming. He is a member of the Black Church Food Security Network a National Association of Congregations working together to create an alternative food system. He is a mentor to at-risk children especially young men. Currently he is helping to create The Manna House Project a after school program, for community children and youth to have a safe space to learn and grow intellectually and spiritually.

Pastor Gary has a prophetic, progressive, and transformative vision of what South Los Angeles can be. Pastor Gary believes deeply that, “only what you do for Christ will last.” He is married to Myrna Larue Jefferson-Williams a gifted teacher and church leader who is a passionate advocate for all people.
