Life does not stand still. Throughout January, we will explore how God is preparing us to move from where we are to where God needs for us to be.
Guest Preacher: Rev. Edward “Eddie” Anderson
Rev. Edward “Eddie” Anderson is a passionate civil rights activist and ordained minister with degrees from Morehouse College and Claremont School of Theology. Born on Warner Robins Air Force Base and raised on the Southside of Atlanta as the fourth (youngest) child of Rev. Ganus and Priscilla Anderson, Rev. Anderson currently serves as the Senior Pastor of McCarty Memorial Christian Church in the historic West Adams neighborhood of Los Angeles.
Affectionately known as Pastor Eddie, he is on the board of Directors for LA Voice Action and served as a regional Organizer for LA Voice, an advocate for Black Lives Matter, and a Co-Founder of Clergy4BlackLives. He has also served as a convener and former Co-Chair of the New Poor People’s Campaign in California, led nationally by Rev. William Barber II. Pastor Eddie has been a leader in many state-wide reforms around transformative justice and has been jailed for justice at least four times. He served as a Commissioner for the Los Angeles Redistricting Commission (2020-2021) and is on the board of the ARDI Advisory Body of Los Angeles County and the Black People Experiencing Homelessness Committee for LAHSA and LA County.

Anderson co-founded the Partnership for Growth Los Angeles Community Development Corporation, which has impacted over 20,000 South LA residents to date. In 2024 he placed third in the election for LA City Council earning the endorsement of the LA Times in the Primary. Pastor Eddie’s core values around civil rights, community engagement, brotherhood, and faith stem from his late grandfather, the Honorable Rev. Willie Anderson Sr., a civil rights icon in South Georgia and was heavily influenced by the late Rev.James M. Lawson. He lives in Mid-city with his wonderful wife Clare Anderson-Fox.
Rev. Anderson’s calling is rooted in the scripture of Isaiah 42:1-7, where God promises to raise a servant to be a light to the nations, to open the eyes of the blind, and to bring justice to those in darkness.
