About the film:
THE FOOLISHNESS OF GOD takes viewers on a dramatic global journey to demystify Desmond Tutu’s process of forgiveness. Follow Karen, an African-American filmmaker, as she is thrust into an uncomfortable world where Tutu asks that atrocities be forgiven. As he challenges her ideas of justice, her personal life is impacted in a way she never imagines.
About the filmmaker:
Karen Hayes, MFA, is a filmmaker who during her anti-apartheid work met Archbishop Desmond Tutu, who invited her to film him internationally over a fifteen-year period. She is currently in post-production on the documentary, The Foolishness of God: My Forgiveness Journey with Desmond Tutu. Her fiction and non-fiction films have received awards from the Ford Foundation, American Film Institute and Tribeca Film Institute.
