Children Youth and Family Collaborative to Host Employment Fair Job Openings throughout L.A. County
Children Youth and Family Collaborative (CYFC), a community- based nonprofit, serving foster youth and youth on probation, will host an employment fair on Tuesday, April 1, 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Holman United Methodist Church, 3320 West Adams Boulevard in Los Angeles.
The organization is seeking to fill 16 full-time openings for Youth Education Specialist, 2 HR Special Assignments and 2 for Education Coordinator. Positions are located in L.A. Carson, Compton, Pomona, Palmdale, Lancaster and the San Fernando Valley.
“There is a tremendous need for talented and inspiring team-oriented professionals, to address the needs of disadvantaged and at-risk youth,” said Lydia Cincore Templeton, Esq., Founder and Executive Director, CYFC. “We are looking for qualified and caring adults, who wish to utilize their skills to help students achieve success in school and in life.”
Minimum requirements for the positions include possession of a bachelor’s degree, at least one year of tutoring or teaching experience at the elementary, middle or high school level, and knowledge of the Common Core State Standards and K-12 subjects, including Math and Language Arts. Additionally, candidates must be familiar with the Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel and Publisher. Previous experience working with disadvantaged or at-risk youth is a plus. Applicants must bring a copy of their resume to the employment fair and will complete an application, summary of their desired location, start date and salary expectations. Onsite interviews will be held the same day. CYFC is also seeking 2 experienced Human Resource professionals for part-time, special assignments.
CYFC utilizes a holistic approach to improve the educational outcomes of foster youth and youth on probation. CYFC makes the connection between disadvantaged youth and a caring community, through partnerships with colleges and universities, school districts, the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors, Department of Children and Family Services, Probation Department, community groups, faith-based organizations. The employment fair is being held at the site of one of CYFC’s partners, Holman UMC, where Rev. Kelvin Sauls is the Senior Pastor.
Since its inception in 1993, CYFC has grown from a staff of one volunteer to more than 120 employees, serving more than 2,500 foster care and 200 probation youth at 50 sites. Starting in one school in one school district, CYFC now serves schools in nine school districts throughout Southern California. CYFC’s programs are funded by The Gates Foundation, The Stuart Foundation, the U.S. Department of Education and many other foundations, government grants, and donations from corporations, organizations and faith communities.
