DOING BUSINESS IN AFRICA FORUM & RESOURCE FAIR
FRIDAY, AUGUST 26th — 8:30am to 11:30am
Holman United Methodist Church
3320 W. Adams Blvd., Los Angeles, 90018
THE MEETING WILL
- focus on the many opportunities for trade and commercial relationships with people in the 54 nations that make up the African continent
- feature representatives of federal and state agencies who have access to resources that can help YOU to start or expand business with Africa.
WHAT YOU MIGHT LEARN
The U.S. government has programs to assist YOU to grow your business, including:
- market research;
- assistance in negotiating agreements
- access to insurance; and
- help overcoming barriers that might prevent successful business transactions.
WHY YOU SHOULD ATTEND
From 2000 to 2010, six of the world’s 10 fastest-growing economies were in sub-Saharan African countries. As a result of economic progress there, Africa’s middle class has tripled in size over the last 30 years—numbering 313 million people, greater than 34 percent of the population of the whole continent.
Over the next 10 years, Africa will become an even more important part of the world economy, with a large, youthful population that is increasingly university-educated, tech-savvy and entrepreneurial. Without question, it is in the interest of the United States to engage with the countries of Africa–the world’s new economic frontier.
As the lead Democrat on the House of Representatives’ Africa Subcommittee, I have the honor of focusing on how the United States can continue to work with the 1 billion people who live on the African continent, including through productive economic relationships.
I hope you will plan to join me and learn about federal, state and local resources available to those looking to start or expand their international business.
RSVP today, and I look forward to seeing you on Friday morning, August 26th at Holman United Methodist Church.
Sincerely,
Karen Bass
