Ignited Light and the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service

Thank you from Ignited Light

Entering into 2023, many nonprofits struggled to sustain themselves.  Ignited Light was not without its challenges, particularly as it related to the planning of the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service.  In reflecting on Pastor Walden’s January 15 sermon, he repeatedly said, “But for God….”  In most recent experiences, “but for God,” was followed by Holman….

Loosely translated, Ephesians 3:20 states, God will do exceedingly, abundantly above all that I ask or think.  Because I honor Him, His blessings will chase me down and overtake me.  I will be in the right place at the right time. People will go out of their way to be good to me.  I am surrounded by God’s favor. This is my declaration.

Holman was a light in the darkness.  Sunshine in the pouring rain. The rainbow after the storm.  For were it not for the loving support of Holman members and staff, Ignited Light would not have been successful in bringing the M.L.K. Day of Service to fruition. The volunteerism, donations, participation, words of encouragement, and phone calls to ensure that Ignited Light had everything it needed, contributed to the success of the day.

The heavy rain kept many away.  However, we had an excellent turnout at the seminar “From Rental to Homeownership,” which provided valuable information pertaining to rental options and homeownership programs.  Because of Holman, we were successful in distributing 100 boxes of food to South Los Angeles residents. World Harvest Food Bank donated organic chicken, resulting in an addition of ten pounds of chicken distributed with each box.  Service providers were pleased with the traffic they received, and participants were appreciative of the valuable services provided.

Thank you does not fully capture the gratitude that fills my heart.  Your support is greatly appreciated.  Because of you, Ignited Light has expanded its presence in the community and will continue to honor Dr. King’s message of service to humanity throughout the year. Ignited Light will join hands with local businesses to serve the community at the eighth Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service Friday and Saturday, January 12 and 13, 2024.

Thank you, again, for your love and support.

Warmly,

Dr. Cassandra L. Bailey
