October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The Center for Disease Control recommends screening mammograms to lower a woman’s risk for breast cancer. Other than skin cancer, breast cancer is the most common cancer among American women. Mammograms are the best way to find breast cancer early, when it is easier to treat and before it is big enough to feel or cause symptoms. A clinical breast exam starts the process followed by a screening mammogram. Ask your doctor when you should get a mammogram. For women who need a medical home, Watts Healthcare has onsite mammography services. Call 323-564-4331 for more information.
